WANTED: DESTROYER VETERANS FOR A PARADE!
This is an invitation for US Navy Destroyer Veterans to join us to participate as a group in the Auburn Veterans Day Parade November 5, 2011. We have been accepted as a "Tin Can Sailor" group and have room for up to 30 veterans to participate. This should be a fun event and an opportunity to meet other shipmates who served on the same class of ship. We have openings for some 20 additional people.
The Auburn Parade is billed as the largest Veterans Parade west of the Mississippi and is well attended and supported by veterans and families. It is a heart warming event with groups representative of the wars. ships. armed forces, air force, veterans groups, etc. Destroyer Veterans have yet to be represented, so we applied and have been accepted for this event. We currently have a small number of committed participants who served from WWII to the 70's. We'd like to fill out our numbers and meet additional veterans. So, If you served on destroyers, (or are currently serving on destroyers), please consider a fun day of shared experiences.
Please contact me if you are interested so we can add you to the list and provide other details.
